Ghana Ashanti Crafts Tours - ethical, responsible, community based tours

Fiema Tours - Responsible Tourism  Policy

We enable guests to interact sympathetically and sensitively with the local people, by explaining customs and behaviour, local language and gestures.

We use local guides, drivers and vehicles wherever possible.

We encourage guests to try local food - in restaurants, from street vendors, and home cooked.

Our tours are small in scale (typically six people) and are managed in partnership with the host communities, bearing in mind their resources of time and people, in and out of the farming seasons.

We financially support projects in the local communities.
Fiema Crafts - Fair Trade Policy

We operate in alignment with FINE and BAFTS criteria for Fair Trade, in particular:

We are guided by principles of mutual respect, justice and equal partnership.

We display transparency on information, aims and working practices.

We pay fair prices to producer groups, to reflect the true costs of production. These would cover areas such as product development, transport, environmental protection and social development.

We ensure favourable conditions for employees.

We promote high product quality.

We respect traditional crafts and encourage their development.

We develop long term relationships with producers.

These criteria emphasise the empowerment of producers and non-exploitation of places and people.
