Baskets from Bolgatanga
Life is difficult at present in Northern Ghana - high unemployment and many youngsters are leaving home and heading for the cities, where they find further problems. They need to earn money particularly outside the farming seasons.
Besides farming, Bolgatanga is famous for its baskets. These are produced by a co-operative in Bongo with design and marketing input from a VSO who took these pictures. There are a lot of new colours and styles.
